My Work

I was born in Harlem, raised in the Bronx, New York City
and now reside in Massachusetts.

I hold a Masters of Education from Lesley University
in Art, Community and Education.

With my background, experience and skills, I am ready
to ignite the creativity in you.

In my role as an arts educator, I strive to bring about
positive change in our society.

Through my work with The Club Passim Folk Collective, I created a platform for twelve artists of color from the Creative Entrepreneur Fellowes program of the Arts and Business Council of Boston to perform at this historic 65-year-old club in Cambridge Massachusetts.

At the Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library, I developed a project-based hands-on curriculum for elementary school aged children entitled Take the “A “train using picture books as a catalyst to educate the children about artists and activists from the Harlem Renaissance and their process of creating art. In this week-long camp children ages 6 through 12 learned to record their own scat like Ella Fitzgerald, write original songs to jazz music, use their imagination to create a story like Zora Neale Hurston and sculpt a clay character like August Savage. The camp ended with a final exhibition of their work. This educational program was funded by the Friends of the Dudley Library, Fellowes Anthenaeum Trust Fund Advisory committee of the Boston Public Library.

My latest project funded by the Boston Foundation Live Arts grant is inspired by the narratives of women activists in Boston past and present. Through this curated evening of original music, “Women in Song” I will amplify the voices of Black woman activists in a musical tribute through history.

I hope this performance will inspire the audience and leave them feeling hopeful and empowered. A recorded album of music is also anticipated in 2024.
